On the main street to the highway we witnessed Vegas Metro PD, guns drawn on 2 guys in a gas station parking lot. At 8AM. Doubtful any of those guys got up this morning to get into this, the cops or the accused, but this city never sleeps.

Then onto Rhyolite, the abandoned ruins of an old mining boom town of the early 1900s. We'd meant to go all the way to Stovepipe Wells to drop off a 12 pack of Shiner we brought for a friend, but were running short on time to get into Vegas before sunset. So we ended up stashing the beer in a secret location that we sent to them, and made dust as we hastened southward.

This being the case, they were parked halfway out in the road but being visible from so far away, easy to avoid. Inside were four people who looked like they'd been stuck with a flat on the loneliest road in the US for hours.
